About to start The Fault in Our Stars…

Wish me luck. I have heard nothing but good things, and I’m ready to be moved. Hoping it lives up to the hype.  I have a feeling it will.

UGH So I finished it 30 minutes ago.  After that time to process, here’s what I think:

John Green, you have a way with words that is simultaneously delicate and pointed.

I’m not going to lie— at first, when Augustus first walked into the picture, I was worried that this would be a “boy swoops in, saves girl” scenario.  Sort of a reversed Manic Pixie Dream Girl scenario.  And then all of a sudden these characters  become so much deeper than that.  Really fantastic writing.

When I’m reading a (presumably) sad book, I can usually tell when the tears will come.  This book had me all over.  I would laugh, then cry. Then laugh while crying. That’s the sign of a good story, purposeful writing, and a mastery of wit.

4/4- everyone must read.

This summer, put your phone away for a few days. Make some memories that no-one knows about. Make some memories that are just yours.
